The squid was well cooked and accompanied by a salad and the burger with cranberry sauce and shoe string fries which were luke warm. The mocktail was quite refreshing with ginger ale and pineapple. Cost
we had a steak sandwich and the Caesar salad with calamari, both were excellent. Price is very reasonable. We sat out side and it was pleasant and relaxing without the noise of some of the eateries on
Entree of squid for my wife and ceasar salad for me proved to be excellent choices as were our mains of chicken and kangaroo. Again the seasoning a bit excessive but flavour and quantity were very satisfactory.
My partner had the beef burger and it was fantastic. Service we very friendly and prompt. Will definitely be back.
The service was good, the food were okay, the place was warm and comfy, overall very happy with our lunch there. I ordered fish and chips, the fish were not the best quality, but i love the sauce, normally it will be served with tar2 (hate it) but this one taste more like cocktail sauce. Parpadelle that my partner ordered taste wise was good just the sauce was a bit too thick, prawn was in good size & quantity.
I had the Belgian Waffles with berries for breakfast last Sunday. They were thick, delicious, and topped with a generous serve of berries and a scoop of ice cream - all for just $10. The staff were
Classy, appealing, knowledgeable and beautifuly presented food. Started with a sweet wine and my brother had a white. Paired with zuccinni flowers (absolute generous size) and I had the pork belly w scallops. Both of these entrees were cooked to perfection, 10 , the main was marinated chicken breast and scotch fillet paired with red as the manager did for us. once again totally generous size , the taste is incredible and being a well done scotch to be as tender as it was, wow. New chef (2 days) has just started and is a 10 , the way Meals are presented and cooked to perfection. New menu is A class and absolute fine dining. Staff were knowledgeable and waited on us beautifully. Small wait, but that doesn't matter when you have a meal as good as ours. Big shout out to the new chef , hands up! Will be coming pleanty more times. Best!!!!!
Great venue for a restaurant, however we got a table, no table service for over an hour, had to ask for menus. We're told staff were busy & someone would attend to us. Sadly we didn't even get to try the food or even have a glass of water. Ended up leaving and looking for another cafe. Would give you another chance in the future maybe if you had more waiters, otherwise we can't recommend you.
Lunched here today at around 11:30 am & chose their Lasagne with chips & salad for $22. The meal was flavoursome (even Garfield the lasagne loving cartoon character cat would have been pleased), with the chips being deep fried well and it was served steaming hot and within 10 minutes of ordering (although again I was their first lunch meal customer), however I would have preferred a little more lasagne and a little less of the salad. Service provision was very good by the young German waitress who went to the trouble of checking that I was enjoying my meal (not all wait staff care). The ambiance was one of comfort with stylish old charm décor with the background music at a level that could be heard over.The Juror's Verdict: Food 4/5, Service Provision 4/5, Will I return: YesPhill Jury (food critic & writer)
Best Steak sandwich going and the Paella was the best I've ever eaten. We will definitely be back!!
I ordered the King size Beef Burger and my wife ordered the Chicken Burger. Well, when they say King size, they were not joking. This thing was massive and I could not finish it. The meat was cooked
Or if you're not that hungry, you can have a steak sandwich or open salmon, turkey or ham sandwiches. We opted for the fresh, battered flathead tails with chips and salad. The chicken salad also looked
The chicken salad also looked tempting. We were too full for dessert. Definitely worth a visit.
We had been past this place many times and the location and set-up looked promising, as we were seeking something classy. We happened to be passing through Geelong for lunch, and decided to stop. To be fair, we had the dinner menu in mind and it turns out the lunch menu was nothing like that of dinner (ie, far from classy). Oh well, we stayed anyway. It was a 1 pm booking and the first thing we were informed was that they were just recovering from breakfast service; not a good start. A nice ambiance, young staff, and... tatty/grubby menus. There were a few in but it was far from full, given the number of staff on the floor. After quite a wait until being approached for our orders (about 15 mins) we settled for entrees of arancini balls and calamari, whilst our daughter just wanted lasagne, only to be informed they were 'out', so it would be a 25 min wait to make up more. Given we adults were having entrees, that was fine. While waiting we overheard the staff indicate two more menu items and one wine were also 'out'. At the 45 min mark (this was a lunch, not a lingering dining event), the table next to us - who arrived when we were about to order - received two serves of calamari. We pointed this out and received an embarrassed "sorry". Soon after the aracini arrived and went to the same, neighbouring table. Luckily they didn't order any so it came to our table... but still no calamari. The calamari was another 5 mins (with another "sorry"), by which time the aracini - only one of three actually having any hint of mozzarella - were barely warm; clearly they hadn't been hot in the first place. The calamari was a little tough, but clearly freshly cooked, but the aracini were a bit try and relatively tasteless. On clearing the entrees, the waitress asked us if we wated to see the dessert menus! Clearly a lack of communication amongst the staff, or this waitress clearly understood we had been there long enough to be up to dessert! Mains arrived after another substantial wait, this time before the next door table. The risotto main was clearly dry and what could be described as entree sized, with artichokes that may well have been tinned (for $22). The chicken open sandwich on rye with coleslaw and salad turned out to be a mountain of salad and slaw with five fifty cent sized slices of chicken buried under the salad (for $17). The freshly made lasagne was not very inspiring, with relatively un-spiced and watery tomato sauce. After an hour and fifty minutes we left extremely disappointed in all aspects of the Customs House. We did receive $5 off the risotto, but at that it was still overpriced, as was a salad with a few chicken pieces. I'm afraid this restaurant was not worth the effort and we won't be back to see if dinner is indeed any better.
We had the Calamari with salad followed by Belgian Waffles, Berries and ice cream. Delicious! We will definitely eat here again when in Geelong.
We ordered the Belgian waffles to finish the meal off. It did take a while for those to come and we ended up having to ask. They explained that they were made fresh on site although I think it still
Nothing special just sandwiches and salads but they were all done to perfection and the shoestring fries were beautifully fresh and salty.
It was very nice, served with a salad and shoestring fries. The meal was served quickly which really suited us. I asked for some mayonnaise (I like that with chips) and that arrived very quickly. We ordered
My dining partner and I had the following dishes: Customs ‘signature’ bisque with sourdough soldiers ($16) – quite strong flavours; Pressed game terrine, homemade piccalilli, ($16 representing good value);
