This is the best schnitzel in Melbourne that’s not from my mums house but given hers aren’t available to you, you better go here. Go big, go Budapest !
I hadn't visited Budapest Restaurant and Palinka Bar for about 7 years, so rediscovering this gem of a restaurant was an absolute delight!Wine spritzers were previously something that was laughed at within my circle of friends, but after giving the red wine and cola spritz a try, I am now a fan! The Hugo elderflower cocktail was so refreshing! The schnitzels were out of this world! The portions were very generous, and there was alot of variety in the type of schnitzel offered on the menu. The crumb was perfectly light and crunchy, without being overly oily. I really enjoyed the Hungarian paprika sauce with the Hungarian style schnitzel which was stuffed with csabai smoked sausage and cheddar. The crumbed mushrooms with csiki sauce was incredibly delicious. The apple and walnut strudel was nice, but not as impressive as the rest of the meal. Can't wait to return for some more schnitzels!
Used to come here all the time, haven’t been for a while, so at my father in laws request we came here for dinner Nothing has changed food is the same, we had schnitzel, crumbed mushrooms and a few side dishes , crumbed mushrooms were ok , abit bland, according to those eating the schnitzel all they could taste were the bread crumbsWait staff looked absolutely miserable and didn’t look as though they wanted to be there Certainly not the bubbling happy place it used to be.
First time coming here as we were referred to by friends. We came at “happy hour” as they advertise a $16.50 schnitzel. The food was quick to come out but unfortunately we were shocked on what it looked like as it did not look like the chicken schnitzel that they were advertising on their window. This is NOT a chicken schnitzel, these are frozen chicken pieces dumped in a deep fryer served with a tiny amount of mashed potatoes with parsley to make it look more appealing...for $16.50. We are just so disappointed, this is the type of meal you’d find on a kids menu. Oh and to add, I also looked on Zomato and saw that the schnitzels are huge. I guess they weren’t the “happy hour” schnitzels. Just a tip, you should be serving what the advertising on your window actually looks like so you can prevent disgruntled customers in the future as we won’t be back. Please refer to the photos attached.
I went there with my Mum last night and I had the Chicken Parmigiana and Potatoes and Spinach with a Raspberry Lemonade and my Mum had the Chicken Liver and Salad with a glass of Water. I had a Lemon
We all had schnitzels - some with mashed potatoes and gravy, others with salad and fries. You have about ten schnitzel options alone to choose from plus several other traditional dishes. The schnitzels
I went there on Friday 8th December 2017 in the afternoon with my Mum and I had a Chicken Parmigiana and my Mum had a Gypsy Pork Cutlet. We both had it with Potato and Spinach. For Dessert I had a Lemon
My wife really wanted to have Authentic Hungarian goulash and It just isn't. The Stuffed mushroom schnitzel was also just too dry. But the Fried Camembert was definitely the best part of the meal. That
Others had the stuffed mushroom schnitzel, the schnitzel parmigiana, and the grilled barramundi, all with either potatoes or salad. And then there's the dessert. Only one was game to keep on eating, and
He came back and said that they will not crumb another schnitzel for me and that I could only choose the Hungarian Goulash or some other meal which I was not interested in. I asked to see the manager
The chicken parmigiana was huge and the goulash with nockerly - excellent! The highlight was the dessert.. Cheese dumpling. Amazing! Huge serves. Warm atmosphere.
My partner and I had purchased vouchers for Budapest, which gave us a shared entree, a main each and an apple strudel each. When a nearby regular diner saw the shared entree placed on our table, he looked
My partner chose a Hungarian schnitzel with a side of red cabbage, and I selected the vegetable stew of the day which came with Hungarian goulash. The dinner-plate sized schnitzel had a filling of ham
I tried a liver stuffed chicken schnitzel, on the recommendation of our waitress. She did not lead me astray it was delicious, having been stuffed with their own home-made chicken liver pate. We chose
Between my husband and I we had veal schnitzel, stuffed chicken schnitzel, potatoes, spinach sauce and a couple of other sauce based items as well as dumplings for dessert. Both schnitzels were huge
The desert menu is limited; we all had apple strudel; very good filling with a light pastry. Service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed the meal and can recommend this restaurant if you want a satisfying
Really like the chicken schnitzel and goulash, and the pureed spinach is a great side dish. The meals are big and filling too. Value for money is pretty good, but get here during their happy hour and
There was room for a wee bit of apple strudel with custard and we were done!! The meal also included a glass of wine, or palinka - we chose plainka - yum yum..We would never have selected a restaurant
